In a park in Nottingham county, a World War I memorial plaque was stolen.
The engraved metal plaque is dedicated to the locals who died in the first world war and was taken from the Bank Park at the bank of Manskar.
Police say it was stolen for some time from Monday's 1930 BST to Tuesday's 0745 BST.
The plaque has been in place since the memorial ceremony
Now it's a listed structure.
Unveiled on 1921.
Tim Downs, manager of Mansfield District Council park and open space, said: "Any crime against public property is sad, but the theft of War Memorial is especially regrettable and disgusting.
"The memorial pays tribute to the locals who gave their lives to our country during the First World War.
"Whoever committed this act expresses complete contempt for their sacrifice, and we will call on anyone involved or anyone who encounters a plaque to inform the police immediately.
"The Nottingham County police are calling on anyone with any information to get in touch with them.
