In the face of a strong protest by the general and archival police over his plan to ask them to wear a famous brand on uniiform, Commissioner Donald F.
Caw ley agreed yesterday to implement the plan in stages.
He said he would not order all 30,000 police officers to immediately display the name tag on the right chest of their uniform.
On the contrary, in the first stage that comes within 60 days, all college graduates who work at the police headquarters or station will be instructed to wear a name tag.
All officers with a rank of lieutenant or higher, whenever in uniform, whether at the door or on the street, will ask for their name tag to be worn.
